The third Baltic-Adriatic Summer School on Digital Humanities

We are happy to announce the BAL-ADRIA Summer School on Digital Humanities 2022!
BAL-ADRIA is a collaboration between countries surrounding the Baltic Sea, and countries surrounding the Adriatic Sea, thus connecting Northern and Southern Europe.
In a supportive academic environment, we are offering good-sized classes ideal for learning, discussing and getting feedbacks on your ideas and thoughts.
This year’s Programme is taught by an international team of researchers and practitioners of digital humanities and social sciences and is delivered in a form of lectures, seminars and practical workshops. Two topics will be covered, equalling together:


  • Digital humanities research tools
  • Fundamentals of programming for digital humanities

ORGANIZATION

BAL-ADRIA Summer School is organized by joint effort of the iInstitute, the iSchool at Linnaeus University, Sweden,
and the Department of Information sciences, University of Zadar, Croatia.

PARTICIPANTS

The Bal-Adria Summer School of Digital Humanities is aimed at Master-level students, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and researchers in any humanities and social science discipline, as well as professionals in cultural heritage sectors. A prerequisite for participation is a Bachelor degree in any discipline. To register, please scroll down to the registration, or click the button in the navigation bar. The registration is open until 13 April 2022


ACCOMMODATION

Participants are responsible for their own accommodation. The price of accommodation is not included in the registration fee. Participants are responsible for paying the bank commission/fees.
We recommend Guesthouses of the Benedictine nuns of Saint Mary . The price is 300kn per night.

REGISTRATION


Registration fee for all participants should be paid after the registration process.
Registration fee amounts to 200 EUR and should be paid by 15 April the latest. It includes:

  • access to all workshops and lectures according to the programme
  • lunch for the five days of the workshop
  • one conference dinner
  • one reception
  • City of Zadar tour

Requirements: the attendees are expected to have at least a Bachelor degree; no previous IT or programming knowledge is required.

Zadar is an ancient European university city. As early as on 14 June 1396 in Dominican monastery in Zadar the university Studium generale, later called Universitas Jadertina was founded. The University of Zadar is the largest fully integrated university in Croatia.
